Echium amoenum is een tweejarige of overblijvende plant komt van nature voor in de smalle zone van het noordelijk deel van Iran en de Kaukasus , waar hij groeit op een hoogte van 60 tot 2200m. Het is een van de belangrijke medicinale kruiden in traditionele Iraanse geneeskunde.
